Book Description
A brooding hero collides with the one woman who upends his control in this hate-to-love military romance by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brittney Sahin.
Hollis Avery has always been untouchable. A woman who’s never needed saving—born into wealth, power, and a family history steeped in secrets.
Until she wakes up with no memory of who she is.
The only thing that feels familiar is Jason Reed, the Delta Force operator who insists they were never friends and nothing more than teammates. Guarded and closed off, Reed keeps his distance, even as Hollis can’t ignore the pull she feels toward him, or the way his gaze lingers like he’s already lost her once and refuses to survive it again.
While they work to uncover who took her memories and why, Hollis begins to change. Stripped of the armor that once defined her, she becomes open, trusting, and dangerously honest. And Reed finds himself falling for the woman behind the legend—the one he was never meant to touch but can’t stop wanting.
As pieces of Hollis’s past come to light, so do the truths Reed has kept buried—and the fear that what they’re building belongs only to the woman she is now.
Restoring her memories is the key to protecting the legacy she was born to defend. But with time running out and danger closing in, Hollis and Reed must choose what’s worth saving: her past…or the future neither of them was ever supposed to want.

Author Biography
Brittney Sahin is a Wall Street Journal and Amazon Top 5 bestselling author of romantic suspense novels.
She began writing at an early age with the dream to be a published author before the age of 18. Although academic pursuits (and, later, a teaching career) interrupted her aspirations, she never stopped writing--never stopped imagining.
It wasn't until her students encouraged her to follow her dreams that Brittney said goodbye to Upstate New York in order to start a new adventure in the place she was raised: Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, she decided to take her students' advice and begin to write again.
In 2015, she published her first novel, Silenced Memories (The Safe Bet). When she is not working on upcoming novels, she spends time with her family. She is a proud mother of two boys, and a lover of suspense novels, coffee, and the outdoors.

Book Summary
Never the Same by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brittney Sahin is the thrilling and emotionally charged third installment in the Delta Shield Security series, delivering a gripping military romance steeped in high-stakes suspense and irresistible tension. Known for her masterful ability to blend intense action with deep emotional resonance, Sahin crafts a captivating hate-to-love story that forces two incredibly stubborn and fiercely guarded characters to confront their deepest vulnerabilities. At its core, the novel explores the profound impact of memory, the heavy burden of family legacies, and the terrifying beauty of allowing someone to see the truest, most unguarded version of yourself.
The narrative centers on Hollis Avery, a woman who has spent her entire life cultivating an aura of absolute invincibility. Born into a world of extreme wealth, immense power, and a family history steeped in dark, complicated secrets, Hollis has always been virtually untouchable. She is a formidable powerhouse in her own right—armed with impressive combat skills, a lethal right hook, and a fiercely independent streak that ensures she never needs anyone to save her. For years, Hollis has worn her tough exterior like a suit of armor, keeping everyone at a safe distance to protect herself and the heavy legacy she was born to defend. She is deeply respected and entirely self-reliant, moving through life with a calculated precision that leaves no room for emotional entanglements.
Contrasting Hollis’s commanding presence is Jason Reed, a brooding, retired Army Delta Force operator who now works alongside the elite operatives of Delta Shield Security. Reed is the epitome of a closed book. He is a fiercely guarded, dangerously capable man who prefers to keep his emotions securely locked away. In the previous installments of the series, the dynamic between Reed and Hollis was defined by a simmering, antagonistic sexual tension. Reed has always insisted that they were never friends, merely teammates who tolerated one another out of professional necessity. He deliberately keeps his distance from her, masking his undeniable attraction beneath a veneer of indifference, secretly terrified of the intense pull she has on him. He operates under the belief that he has already lost her once in some profound way, and he adamantly refuses to endure the pain of surviving that kind of loss a second time.
The delicate, carefully maintained balance between them is violently shattered when Hollis mysteriously goes missing. When the Delta Shield team, alongside a coalition of operatives and family members, finally manages to track her down, they are met with a devastating reality: Hollis has suffered a severe medical emergency and wakes up with absolutely no memory of who she is, where she comes from, or the people standing in front of her. The razor-sharp, untouchable woman is suddenly gone, replaced by someone entirely unmoored and vulnerable. Yet, in the midst of her profound disorientation and fear, there is one undeniable constant: the only thing that feels familiar to her, the only presence that makes her feel inherently safe, is Jason Reed.
This heartbreaking twist completely upends the dynamic between the two characters. Stripped of the protective armor and the heavily guarded walls that once defined her every interaction, Hollis begins to fundamentally change. Without the burden of her family’s secrets or the need to constantly project strength, the amnesiac Hollis is remarkably open, trusting, and dangerously honest. As she and Reed work closely together to unravel the dangerous mystery of who took her memories and why, the forced proximity chips away at Reed’s iron-clad control. He steps seamlessly into the role of her fierce protector, dedicating himself entirely to keeping her safe and helping her reclaim her stolen life.
As they navigate the treacherous path of uncovering her past, the slow-burn romance between them inevitably ignites. Reed finds himself falling desperately in love with the woman behind the legend—the soft, genuine person he was never meant to touch but now cannot stop wanting. However, this blossoming love is overshadowed by a looming, heartbreaking fear. Reed knows that restoring her memories is the only key to protecting her and her family’s legacy, but he is paralyzed by the thought that the beautiful connection they are building belongs solely to the woman she is right now. He is terrified that once the old, untouchable Hollis returns, she will once again push him away, erasing the profound intimacy they have shared.
As pieces of Hollis’s past systematically come to light, the dangerous truths Reed has kept buried also begin to surface. With time running out and an unknown, deadly threat closing in around them, they are pushed to the absolute brink. Hollis and Reed must make impossible choices about what is truly worth saving—the safety of her past legacy, or the uncharted, beautiful future neither of them was ever supposed to want. Never the Same masterfully blends high-stakes suspense, intricate character development, and a deeply moving love story, culminating in a satisfying resolution that proves true love can survive even the darkest of forgotten memories.
